I don’t have many crazy “how we met” stories from my relationships. With maybe one notable exception, it’s pretty much just been “I do theatre and she does theatre so we met doing theatre.”
I wish I had some more memorable romantic anecdote to pull, like the one in this tweet:
my grandma just asked me if i had a boyfriend and i was like “no” and she was like “well i went to a random funeral because i was bored and that’s how i met your grandfather” ??????

Or the ones in the myriad of replies that followed:
10. So driven
Next stop, marriage.
When my grandma was in high school her friend had a crush on the bus driver, but she was too shy so she sent my grandma to talk to him. Grandma tells the driver “my friend wants to go on a date with you”. he tells her “I’d rather go out with you” and that’s how they got together

9. Take me home tonight
Well, I guess that’s that.
Grandmother went on a date with with older brother. She wanted to go home, his younger brother took her. My pawpaw “took” her home for 55 years. Rest his soul 😢

8. Lap it up
When I do that I just get slapped but OK.
my mom and dad met in a full buss and he said she could sit in his lap, and she did.

7. Look out for her
Buddy you better look out for you.
My grandma met my grandfather because her bf went off to war and asked his fraternity brother to “look out for her” and eventually my grandfather was like, “yo, I’m looking out for her FOR ME not for you.” By the time he went to war he’d successfully stolen my grandma’s heart.

6. Dude had game
My grandpa picked my grandmother up from her ex husband’s house (while they were still married) and asked her to marry him. They were together for 33 years before he passed away. Dude had game

5. Wait, how?
Don’t hate the player.
My great grandmother sent her friend my grandma’s betrothal photo. My grandpa took a look at the pic and told his mom, “I’m going to marry her.” Achievement unlocked.

4. Do the math
I, too, am a little bit lost.
I apologize, is this what you're saying? So your parents are not related, but they share a half-sibling? pic.twitter.com/STtZfHPdwe

3. Breakdown break ups
Driving in cars with boys.
My grandma went on a date with my great uncle and the car broke down (which belonged to my other great uncle) and my grandpa pulled up and she left with him 😂

2. Grandpa Chet
Peace out, ya’ll.
My grandmother was a “peace offering.” My great Uncle Lewis knew grandfather, who was engaged to Emily. Having stolen Emily, Lewis brought around his sister Donna to meet Grandpa Chet. They were married more than 60 years.

1. I’m sorry?
She’s quite the wing lady.
My mom’s story is that when she was hosting her mother’s funeral, my dad’s mother walks right up to her and says “Honey, have I got a man for you.” Not anything about condolences.
Later on, their sisters (both friends) set the two up for a date.
