All of us love animals.

Whether you prefer domesticated dogs and cats or the-weirder-the-better variety, there’s something for everyone.

That’s why it’s always enticing to get up close and personal with your favorite rare species.

And soon, you can!

Visitors to Kent, England, will have a new opportunity to vacation in the lap of luxury with a front row seat to the giraffe kingdom.

Originally announced in the spring of 2019, and approved in the fall of 2020, the opening of Giraffe Hall at Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve may have been slightly delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Now, there’s a 9000-person waiting list.

According to Kent Online:

If every space was sold-out, it would take 225 nights to accommodate all of the guests currently on the waiting list.

The new luxury hotel will reside on the Kent grounds of The Aspinall Foundation reserve.

For readers who are unfamiliar, The Aspinall Foundation is committed to “conservation, through captive breeding, education and reintroduction.”

As an animal charity, we are working in some of the world’s most fragile environments to save endangered animals and return them to the wild.

The main building, originally part of the Port Lympne estate, has a colorful history of its own. Often used as a retreat by Philip Sassoon (cousin to the famous WWI poet Siegfried Sassoon), it housed many famous guests in its hay day.

An Aspinall Foundation blog post explains:

Sassoon was Member of Parliament for Hythe and Private Secretary for Field Marshal Haig during WW1. He famously used the estate as his country weekend retreat, entertaining guests including Winston Churchill, Lawrence of Arabia and Charlie Chaplin.

As the property enters a new era, one where visitors can feed giraffes right from the comfort of their hotel windows, it will be restored to reflect the beauty of its past.

The LAD Bible describes the plans for this amazing new vacation spot:

The luxury accommodation is set within a Grade II listed building dating back to the 15th and 16th century and will offer 10 bedrooms, as well as five cabins, all giving incredible views over the nature reserve where animals including lions, giraffes and wolves call home.

If this sounds like your dream getaway, hurry up and put your name on the waiting list.

In the meantime, check out the Safari-inspired glamping experience at the nearby Giraffe Lodge.
